Kovach is “the right candidate for Guelph”: Clement

Kovach is the Right Candidate for Guelph

Guelph, Ont. (May 30, 2008) – Federal Health Minister Tony Clement was in Guelph on Friday night to support Gloria Kovach’s campaign, calling the Federal Conservative Candidate “the right candidate for Guelph.”

“Gloria already has a name for herself in Federal Caucus. We’re anxious to get her,” Clement told a crowd of longtime Conservative Party members in attendance at the fundraiser at Norfolk Manor, hosted by owner David Ing.

“She’s a natural,” Clement added. "If you want to know what is important to the citizens of Guelph, just ask Gloria", he said.

Speaking at the event, Kovach said what is of most concern to the citizens of Guelph right now is the proposed 2009 municipal tax hike of 6.5%, which she believes is simply “unacceptable.”

“This is going to impact whether families can feed their children, or if they will be able to keep their homes,” said Kovach. “We’re going to lose business in Guelph, and possibly jobs".

“Dion and the Liberals are too comfortable with the idea of raising taxes, which they have proven once again with their carbon tax".

“Like our Conservative Government, which cuts taxes rather than raising them, I want to make sure Guelph residents get to keep more of the money they work so hard to earn.”

At the event Friday, Clement also stressed the importance of ensuring that healthcare continues to remain accessible to all Canadians – a topic which strikes a strong chord with Kovach, who is a nurse.
