Guelph, Ont. (May 31, 2008) – The Hon John Baird, MP for Ottawa West Nepean, and Minister of the Environment will be in Guelph on Saturday, June 21st to attend a fundraising BBQ in support of Gloria Kovach, Guelph’s Federal Conservative Candidate.
“Minister Baird has always been a strong supporter and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to count him among our honoured guests at our fundraising BBQ right here in the heart of our city”, said Kovach.
Minister Baird's visit follows shortly after the visit by Minister of Health, Tony Clement at Norfolk Manor on May 30th. "This government cares deeply about Guelph, and I hope to build on this by bringing issues to Ottawa that the people of Guelph care about", says Kovach.
Kovach, as President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, has had the opportunity to work with Minister Baird, and says that she is looking forward to discussing some of the Guelph's innovative environmental approaches with the Minister when he visits Guelph.
The BBQ is being held at Exhibition Park in downtown Guelph on Saturday, June 21st. It will run from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $50.00 per person, and can be obtained by calling (519) 830-8683, by emailing operations@gloriakovach.com, or by purchasing them online here.
