Gloria’s Local Public Service
Gloria has been a city councillor for more than 17 years, and has volunteered for many organizations and charitable groups in Guelph throughout her life.
As a city councillor, Gloria:
- Currently chairs the Governance & Economic Development Committee
- Serves on the Police Services Board, and has previously held the position of Vice-Chair
- Acts in place of the mayor in emergency situations
- Has either chaired, vice-chaired or been a member of the Finance and Administration Committee, The Economic Development Committee, The Community Services Committee, Governance, Economic Development and Information Services Committee
- Has served on the Guelph Museums Board, the River Run Board, the Fire Services Allocation Committee, and the Guelph Junction Railway Board
In addition to her council contributions, Gloria is a:
- Board member of Hospice Wellington
- Board member of the Canadian Red Cross
- Board member for the Women of Distinction alumnae
- Member of the Guelph Legion, Branch 234
- Member of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce
Her other community contributions include:
- Serving on the St. Joseph’s Hospital Board, the General Hospital Board, the Social Services Committee, and the District Health Council
- Serving on the board of the CNIB
- Being a breast awareness trainer for the Canadian Cancer Society
- Serving as vice president of the Westhills-Parkwood Gardens Neighborhood Association
- Volunteering for Communities in Bloom and Speed River Cleanups
