Gloria’s public service experience encompasses initiatives and activities at the local, national and international levels. Her local activities are described in the “Her Bio” section of this website. Her national and international experiences include the following:
- Gloria helped to establish a long term municipal partnership with Jinja, Uganda through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ International Centre for Municipal Development.
- She developed an exchange program between Guelph and cities in the Czech Republic and has worked on an international program in El Salvador.
- She has been recognized by the United Nations for establishing “best practices” in building sustainable communities.
- She was appointed to the international committee, Municipal Alliance for Peace (MAP), which is working on peace initiatives for the Middle East.
- She has spoken at various events internationally in Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, United States, Italy, Czech Republic, Columbia, Indonesia, El Salvador and several African countries.
