Yesterday, Prime Minister Stephen Harper demonstrated, once again, that putting Canada first is a top priority for the Conservative Government.
The Prime Minister introduced “Canada First,” the Conservative Government’s comprehensive 20 year vision to strengthen the Canadian Forces’ capacity to protect Canadian security at home while defending Canadian interests and priorities around the world.
The “Canada First” plan contains three clear priorities:
- Strengthen Canada’s ability to defend our country and protect our citizens;
- Shoulder our fair burden of continental security as we share the defence of North America, and;
- Contribute to global security in order to bring peace and prosperity to less fortunate people around the world.
As part of this plan, the brave men and women of the Canadian Forces will receive modern equipment needed to get the job done.
Only now, with the respect, support and investment of the Conservative Government, are the Canadian Forces emerging from the shadow cast by the previous Liberal government during their decade of darkness.
Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion was part of a Liberal government that neglected and ignored the Canadian Forces. As a result Canada was left with a diminished ability to defend our sovereignty and the voice of Canadians became a dim whisper on the world stage.
Today, thanks to real leadership and real action from Prime Minister Harper, Canada is not only turning back the clock on years of Liberal neglect and mismanagement, but we are also putting plans in place for a more secure future.
When it comes to protecting Canadians, the choice is clear. No plans, no leadership no policy and a legacy of defence mismanagement from the Stéphane Dion Liberals. Or real leadership, real action and real results from Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Conservative Government.
