Senior Liberals are now hinting that we are mere days away from the unveiling of the latest round of the Dion Tax Trick.
As the Liberal's big day draws near, Canadians can look forward to a non-stop barrage of excuses, half-hearted promises and phony green packaging from Stéphane Dion as he tries, yet again, to fool Canadians into paying more so he can spend more.
Unfortunately, for the Dion Liberals, Canadians see right through the Dion scheme, and more and more commentators are taking notice.
“His carbon-tax plan, involving significant tax reform, is being hurriedly prepared for a release next Wednesday…” Notes commentator Lawrence Martin “…however, Mr. Dion will find it difficult to argue that there won't be an indirect marginal effect at the pump.” (Globe and Mail, June 12)
“Dion may first have to avoid the Liberal death of a thousand cuts that could await around the corner of his carbon plan announcement.” adds commentator Chantal Hebert (Toronto Star, June 13)
To this commentator Lorrie Goldstein offers a caution about the truth of Dion-style carbon tax plans, “That risks driving developed countries into recession (or deeper recessions than they already face) as consumers buy less, because the skyrocketing price of fossil fuels will hike the price of almost everything. “ (Sun Media, June 12)
Commentators, members of the media, Liberal MPs, senior Dion strategists, truckers, small business owners, Provincial Premiers, environmentalists, working families and Stéphane Dion himself (2006 edition) have condemned a carbon tax such as the one being sold by Stéphane Dion (2008 edition) as an ineffective or disastrous policy.
It’s no wonder so many Liberals are worried about going public with the Dion Tax Trick. Everyone sees through it.
